Loner, by Bernard Lagan

Another political biography. Loner covers Mark Latham’s bid for the prime ministership during 2004. Anyone who kept up to date with all the newspaper coverage of Latham’s Labor leadership will know the story pretty well. Loner doesn’t cover much new ground. There are a few droplets of new information and insider gossip, but that’s about it. Not really an earth shattering book.

Most of the new material comes in the form of email exchanges, most notably the recent headline material where Latham said that the Labor party is beyond repair.

A pleasant enough recapping of Latham’s year as Labor leader. Not a really riveting book though.
