The Mysterious Affair of Judith Potts, by Robert Thorogood

The latest installment of the beloved cozy crime series.

Murder is afoot in the idyllic English town of Marlow. Football star Gary Wise is shot dead at the rear of his property, and soon local thriller writer Mike Saxon  succumbs to the same fate. It seems the town’s celebrity class is being targeted, causing flighty TV presenter Angela Guthrie to worry she’ll be next. This is obviously a job for amateur sleuths Suzie Harris, professional dog walker, Becks Starling, the vicar’s wife and the crossword setter Judith Potts, their unofficial leader.

A spanner in the works is the appearance of Judith’s step-daughter, Eleni. Eleni is the daughter of Judith’s Greek husband Philippos, who died in 1976 on a boat trip off the coast of Corfu in suspicious circumstances. Eleni claims to have proof that Judith was responsible, even though Greek authorities cleared her name. Eleni dogs the three women, leaving Judith seriously rattled and unable to perform at her best.

The Mysterious Affair of Judith Potts
is the fifth book in the successful Marlow series. Like all previous books, it’s a tightly plotted story with three irrepressible characters that readers will love. The Marlow novels balance entertainment and humour with the feel good themes of enduring friendship and personal resilience.

The Mysterious Affair of Judith Potts, by Robert Thorogood. HQ Fiction. $32.99
